By Meredith Chase, Executive Director of For the Widow Ministries
Hello Friends,
Happy New Year! We’re stepping into 2025 with hearts full of gratitude for all that God has done through For the Widow Ministries.
A Year of Impact
Look for our 2024 Annual Report, which will be released in February. It will highlight the incredible ways your support has impacted the lives of widows and their families this past year.
Exciting News!
We’re thrilled to announce that we met our $47,200 goal for the Ministry Truck! Thank you to everyone who gave, prayed, and shared in this campaign. We can’t wait to share photos and stories of how this truck will help us serve more widows in need.
New Widows
We are assessing new widows to be added to the program and will announce these new sponsorship opportunities in February.
Thank you for being part of this ministry. Your prayers, support, and encouragement are making a lasting impact on the lives of widows and their families.
A Dios Sea La Gloria,
Meredith Chase
Executive Director of For the Widow Ministries
How Do We Serve the Widows in the Program?
At For the Widow Ministries, we focus on three key areas to meet the needs of the widows in our program:
- Physical Support: We provide essentials like food, household supplies, and assistance with home improvements to enhance their daily lives. Additionally, we help widows access medical care by providing transportation to doctor appointments and connecting them with needed resources.
- Emotional Care: We build meaningful relationships by spending time with them, sharing our own stories, listening to their stories, and reminding them that they are loved, valued, and not forgotten.
- Spiritual Guidance: We introduce widows to the hope of Jesus Christ, connect them to local churches, and encourage their faith journey.
We’re excited to share that new widows will be available for sponsorship in February. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to make a difference, stay tuned for more details next month.
Current Widow Updates
Elena (Barahona):
Elena shared how special Christmas was for her family. They prepared a festive meal and spent the New Year together at home, creating beautiful memories. She expressed deep gratitude for the ministry and her sponsor, saying the support has been a tremendous blessing to her family. Together, we prayed for God’s provision, health, and protection in the coming year.
Elvira (Barahona):
Elvira enjoyed the holidays surrounded by family, even though her mobility issues kept her from moving around much. She shared how precious it was to have her loved ones visit and how much it meant to her to see her family celebrating together. We prayed for her health, for family unity, and for those in her family who have yet to accept Christ.
Gloria (Los Robles):
Gloria had some health challenges during the holidays, including a fever that required a doctor’s visit. She shared that the vitamins prescribed have helped her regain strength, and she’s feeling much better now. During our visit, we prayed for her health, her family, and her relationship with God.
Antonia (Los Robles):
Antonia shared how grateful she is for the repairs being made to her house. Although it’s not yet complete, she feels peace knowing her home is safer. During Christmas, friends and family brought her meals, and she had so much food that she gave some to others in need. We prayed for her continued protection, for God’s work in her heart, and for her to come to know Christ personally.
Carmen (Los Robles):
Carmen celebrated a joyful Christmas with her family and welcomed a new granddaughter into the world. She expressed her gratitude for a healthy delivery and shared how thankful she is for the blessings of family. We prayed for the care of her granddaughter, for family protection, and for her faith to remain strong.
Nosilia (Los Robles):
Nosilia spent Christmas with her daughters and shared how grateful she is that the holidays were filled with peace and joy. We prayed for her children, her health, and for God to continue guiding her spiritual journey.
Please continue to pray for Santa and God’s provision for her home.
Betania (Mena Arriba):
Betania had a wonderful Christmas, especially because her son, who lives in Bávaro, came to visit and spent more time with her than she expected. She expressed how much this visit meant to her. We prayed for her children and for God to work in their lives and provide ongoing protection.
Jungara (Mena Arriba):
Although Jungara couldn’t spend Christmas with her family, members of her church visited her, which brought her comfort. She spent New Year’s Eve at church, finding joy in worship and community. After a fall earlier in the month, she is recovering well. We prayed for her health, for her children, and for her continued relationship with God.
Antonia (Mena Arriba):
Antonia enjoyed Christmas with her son and other family members who came to share meals and fellowship. While some relatives couldn’t join due to work commitments, she felt blessed that her family was healthy and well. We prayed for her faith to remain strong and for her family to grow closer to God.
Santa (La Guazara):
Santa celebrated Christmas with her family and shared how grateful she is for the improvements being made to her home. During our visit, her daughter fell ill and required emergency care, but she is now recovering well. We prayed for her daughter’s health, for her family, and for continued provision and faith.
Rellita (La Guazara):
Rellita had a peaceful Christmas surrounded by family. Although they celebrated with dancing and drinking, she chose to stay calm and focused on enjoying the holiday without conflict. We prayed for her family, her health, and the well-being of her community.
Agripina (La Guazara):
Agripina hoped to visit her daughter in the capital for Christmas, but transportation issues kept her home. Despite this, she shared that she had a peaceful and normal holiday. We prayed for her family, her grandchildren, and for God to strengthen her faith in the Gospel.
