By Meredith Chase, Executive Director of For the Widow Ministries
This month’s update is dedicated to our beloved Luisa who is now in Heaven and healed from her diabetes. Luisa joined the program back in April and I can’t help but think God had his hand in the timing of her joining. She began receiving food from the ministry and in July she was sponsored which allowed us to start providing for her more substantially, including medicine for her diabetes that has gone untreated forever. Luisa became ill a few weeks ago and spent 5 days in the hospital. Unfortunately, two of her toes had to be amputated as a result of the illness which led to an infection that ultimately took her life.
Sponsoring a widow makes a huge difference in the lives of these women. In Luisa’s last days we were able to take her back and forth to the hospital, pay for medicine to treat her infection, and help the family pay for funeral arrangements. While we are sad that Luisa is no longer with us we are so thankful that this world is not our home. Luisa had put her faith in Jesus and we are confident she is healed today worshiping our Lord and Savior.
Thank you for your continued support of this ministry and for your prayers as we work to serve our God by being the hands and feet of Jesus in the lives of our widows!
The Need for a Ministry Truck
Hopefully, you have seen an increase in communication through email and social media about our need for a ministry truck. Our goal is to raise $47,200 by November 30. We are currently at 51% of our goal!
Please join us in prayer as we work to reach this goal. And please prayerfully consider how you and your family could be a blessing to the ministry, Miqueas, and the widows we serve. Make a Donation Today!
Praises for the Month
Antonia and The Ripple Effect of God’s Love
Every Wednesday, Antonia is in church with her son Luis! She is so happy and has a true interest in God’s Word. Her two sisters continue to go to church with her, and she invited her cousin. It is amazing how God is working in the lives of Antonia and her family!!
Elvira’s Leg Pain and Doctor Visits to Her House
Elvira’s legs have a pain that is worse than normal. She has medicine she takes for the pain but it’s hard for her to go to the doctor because she is 91 and doesn’t get around easily. If you want good healthcare you typically need to go to Santo Domingo which is 4 hours away. However, the local doctor agreed to come to the house to check on a treat Elvira.
She is an impressive woman… still selling charcoal at 92!
Gloria Received a New Refrigerator
Gloria was so happy and surprised this month when she received her very own refrigerator. Miqueas, our program director, has been saving to buy a new refrigerator so he could give his to Gloria! What a blessing God has given to this wonderful woman.
Church Partnerships Are Critical to Our Success!
A big thanks to Ovilla United Methodist Church for inviting For the Widow to speak to their congregation about the ministry and our upcoming mission trip. They are generously providing bibles and evangelism tools for our trip in November.
Thanks to FBC Midlothian for inviting us to the mission partner fair to talk more about the amazing work For the Widow is doing as a result of their partnership.
If you are a part of a mission-minded church that would be willing to let us come speak to the leadership team or any other groups in the congregation, please let us know! You can connect with our team here at forthewidow.org/contact or send an email to contact@forthewidow.org.
