December 2025 Update

Today is Giving Tuesday – a day when millions of people around the world give to causes they believe in. I want to tell you about a moment from our recent mission trip that perfectly captures why your gift to For the Widow Ministries matters – and why consistency, faithfulness, and showing up changes lives for eternity.

Maisola Gives Her Life to Jesus

One of the greatest joys of our November trip was witnessing Maisola, one of our widows in Santa Elena, make the decision to put her faith in Jesus.

Maisola is in her 80s and was added to our program in April 2025. She lives near El Camino church, where Pastor Michael Acosta preaches, and she sometimes attends services there. She knows who Jesus is, but there has been confusion in her life about what it means to truly give your life to Him.

In June, we had our first conversation with her about putting her faith in Jesus. She told us she understood, but she wasn’t ready to make that decision yet.

This trip, when we visited her along with our other widows in Santa Elena – Julia, Gladys, and Cuca – we asked Maisola if she had thought any more about giving her life to Jesus. We gave the analogy of God knocking at her door and all she has to do is let him in!

This time, she said yes. We prayed with her right then and there. She confessed her sins, asked Jesus to forgive her, and invited Him into her heart. It was a beautiful, sacred moment.

But here’s what struck me most: Maisola needed time. She needed to see our team return. She needed to witness our consistency. She needed to know that our love for her wasn’t conditional on her decision.

We planted seeds in June. We watered them with our presence, our prayers, and our faithfulness. And in November, God brought the harvest. We aren’t always there for the harvest but were thankful the American mission team was able to witness this decision!

Why Your Giving Tuesday Gift Matters

Maisola’s story is only possible because faithful supporters like you make it possible for us to show up month after month, trip after trip.

Your gift today allows us to:

  • Visit 30+ widows every single month with food, prayer, and encouragement.

  • Return to the Dominican Republic 3+ times a year to build relationships and share the gospel.

  • Be present for the long journey – not just the quick wins, but the Maisolas who need six months, a year, or longer to put their faith in Jesus.

  • Plant seeds, water them, and trust God for the harvest

On this Giving Tuesday, will you help us continue showing up for widows like Maisola?

Your gift – whether it’s $25, $100, $500, or more – directly funds:

  • Monthly visits and special projects for the widows we serve

  • Mission trips that build relationships and share the gospel

  • Bible studies, testimony training, and spiritual care

  • Emergency needs like home repairs and medical support

Thank you for your continued support of this ministry!  God does amazing things when his children say YES and follow him where he leads.
