2026 Mission Trips to the Dominican Republic

Bring Your Team. Use Your Gifts. Serve Together.

Custom Group Mission Trips

At For the Widow Ministries, we love seeing local churches, small groups, and specialized teams step out in faith to serve the widows of the Dominican Republic. If your church or organization wants to plan, fund, and lead your own mission trip, we are excited to partner with you!

While FTW handles the on-the-ground logistics, security, and community relationships, your leadership team will direct the daily ministry. Together, we can create an unforgettable experience that perfectly matches the unique skills, passions, and calling of your group.

Designed Around Your Team: The Power of Customization

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all mission trips. God has uniquely gifted your team, and we want to help you leverage those specific talents to bless the communities we serve in Barahona. When you lead your own trip, we work alongside you to customize the itinerary based on who you are bringing:

  • Medical Teams: If you have doctors, nurses, or physical therapists, we can coordinate mobile medical clinics in partnership with local healthcare ministries to bring long-awaited care directly to our widows.
  • Construction & Project Teams: Got a group of handy people or builders? We can arrange vital home-repair projects, church building maintenance, or community improvements that leave a lasting physical legacy.
  • Family & Multi-Generational Teams: Bringing a mix of ages? We can design a tailored trip that provides opportunities for every participant to feel like they are a part of what God is doing in the Dominican Republic.
  • Whatever Your Skillset: If you have a vision, let’s talk about it. From teaching specific skills to organizing community-wide events, we love getting creative to match your team’s strengths with our communities’ real needs.

What You Need To know

Group Size

To ensure safe transport in our ministry vehicles and high-quality lodging, our custom trips are designed for groups of 8 to 25 participants.

Cost & Billing

  • The Base Fee: The programmatic fee paid directly to For the Widow is $900 per person. This fee is completely comprehensive once you land, covering all of your secure lodging, three meals a day, private ground transportation, and dedicated translators.
  • Airfare: Airfare is not included in the $900 base fee. Your group can choose to book your own flights, or our team can work closely with you to help coordinate and book your group’s travel. (Including flights, trips typically range around $1,800/person depending on your departure location and the time of year ).
  • How Billing Works: Once we agree on your dates and custom itinerary, we will set up a master group folder. We can bill your group in one of two ways:
    • We can send a single, consolidated invoice directly to your church or group leader.
    • We can issue individual, digital invoices to each team member so they can pay their portion directly.

Housing & Accomodations

We want you focused on serving the widows, not worrying about where you will stay or what you will eat. FTW secures and manages all lodging.

Depending on the size and layout of your team, housing is organized in one of two ways:

  • The FTW Mission House: When available, our teams stay at the secure, gated, two-story For the Widow Mission House in Barahona. The home is owned by a local family, managed by a Dominican pastor, and is fully air-conditioned with 6 bedrooms.
  • Vetted Local AirBnBs: If your group size or gender split requires alternative spacing, we secure local AirBnBs that meet our strict safety and operational standards: they must be financially prudent, located in safe neighborhoods, possess gated/walled security, and be centrally located to the areas we are serving.

Bible Studies & Ministry Materials

Sharing the Gospel is the heartbeat of what we do. For your women’s or children’s Bible studies, your group has two options:

  1. Bring Your Own: Your leadership team can choose and write your own curriculum. To ensure cultural relevance and alignment with our local ministry goals, all custom materials must be submitted to the FTW team for approval at least 60 days before departure.
  2. Use FTW Curriculum: Prefer to leave the curriculum to us? We will gladly provide tested, powerful, and translated Bible study materials that your team can step in and teach.

What's Provided?

  • Safe, secure, and comfortable team housing.
  • Three freshly prepared meals every day.
  • Clean drinking water for the duration of your trip.
  • All sheets, blankets, pillows, and bath towels at our housing locations.
  • Ground transportation throughout your trip (including our FTW ministry trucks and trusted hired drivers).
