Renewed by Faith: How a Widow Found Strength in Jesus

Antonia has made the most critical decision anyone on this earth could make—to put her faith in her savior, Jesus Christ! We couldn’t be happier about this decision, and we have been praying for Antonia and the other widows who have yet to make this decision.

Miqueas was in Mena Arriba last week, sharing the gospel with the widows there. He was sharing the story of Martha and Mary from Luke 10. He explained to the women that we often worry about material things – the things we need to do or achieve. But Mary is an excellent example of what God desires for us. Mary was sitting at the feet of Jesus, listening to the word of salvation, the word of life, the word that restores, corrects, and liberates. Mary was more concerned about her salvation than preparing the feast or table for the others there. Mary knew that salvation of the soul was the most essential thing in this life, and she knew that salvation could only come from the Savior. After sharing this story, Antonia told Miqueas she wanted to have the same salvation in Jesus Christ that Mary had.

Please pray that Antonia’s children and the rest of her family will also decide to put their faith in Jesus!

Two Men, One Motorcycle, and a Big Mission: Why We Need Your Help!

We are so thankful to have received many donations for a new ministry truck. Trucks are not cheap to purchase in the Dominican Republic so we still have a way to go, but God is good and faithful to provide!

Goal: $47,200
Raised to Date: $9,253 (18% of our goal)

Why do we need a truck?
Our program director, Miqueas, and his brother, Jeffrey, make multiple trips on a motorcycle to deliver food and spend time with each widow, resulting in approximately 2 to 3 hours wasted per week. This method is inefficient, costly, and at times dangerous. We also need a truck to transport teams on mission trips, so we don’t have to hire a driver!

How will the money be used?
* Purchase a Toyota Tacoma or Nissan Frontier
* Outfit the truck bed with benches for extra seating
* Gas costs for one year
* Storage for the truck for one year
* Purchase car insurance
* Save for annual maintenance needs

Transform a Life:

Sponsor a Widow. Make a Difference.

In our April update, we introduced three new widows in great need who were added to the program. One of those widows was sponsored, but we have two widows in desperate need of a sponsor so we can continue supporting them. For the Widow has been providing food for the past two months as we wait for someone to come along and fill this need.

What does it mean to sponsor a widow?
When you sponsor a widow, you commit to a monthly donation of $100, which will provide monthly food, home repairs, medical care, and monthly visits to share the gospel. You will also have the opportunity to send letters and photos to your widow or visit her on one of our three annual mission trips.

If you cannot commit to $100 per month, you can share this sponsorship with others (for example, 5 people can each pay $20, 4 people can each pay $25, or 10 people can each pay $10 per month).
