Partnering to Care for the Widow: A Kingdom Collaboration

The Biblical Mandate: Pure and Undefiled Religion

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” — James 1:27

As pastors and church leaders, you carry the responsibility of guiding your congregation to live out the Gospel in a tangible way. In scripture, God repeatedly reveals His heart for the marginalized, placing the care of the widow at the very center of true, active faith.

When our team first began serving widows in the Dominican Republic in 2018, our hearts were broken by the physical, emotional, and spiritual isolation these women faced. We realized that caring for them wasn’t just a good deed, it was a direct biblical mandate.

For the Widow Ministries was officially launched in 2023 to bridge the gap between local churches in the U.S. and these beautiful, yet forgotten, women of God. We do not want to replace the local church; we want to be an extension of your global mission. By partnering with us, your congregation has a direct, active, and reliable pipeline to fulfill the biblical mandate of James 1:27 on a consistent basis.

Uncompromising Stewardship: Transparency, Accountability & Fiscal Responsibility

We know that when your church invests financial resources into a global ministry, you are trusting us with God’s tithes and offerings. We take that trust incredibly seriously. To honor God and protect our partners, we have structured the ministry for integrity, accountability, and compliance with IRS 501(c)(3) standards.

Here is how we ensure transparency for your church:

Active Discretion & Control: Every program, project, and supply is planned, reviewed, and approved by the For the Widow board of directors. We do not hand cash over to unvetted partners.

Real-Time Field Tracking: Our Dominican Program Director, Miqueas, reconciles all local expenses. Every purchase, from medical supplies to truck maintenance, is backed by physical receipts and signed cash vouchers to ensure a paper trail.

Monthly Transparency Reports: We send out monthly email updates to all of our church partners and supporters that show the impact of your giving. You will receive stories and upcoming opportuntiies to be involved.

Comprehensive Annual Reports: At the end of every year, we publish a full financial and impact report detailing our total regional expenditures, programmatic accomplishments, and resource allocations.

Where Your Monthly Partnership Investment Goes

When you are church partners with For the Widow, your monthly giving is used to directly impact the widows in our care, managed on-site by our local program director, Miqueas Julian. Unless given express permission to use gifts for limited operational expenses, 100% of every dollar we receive is used to provide for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of widows. Furthermore, all U.S. members of our team are volunteers and receive no salary or compensation.

We are committed to using the funds we graciously receive to provide the following:

Food & Essential Supplies: Our on the ground team purchases the necessary supplies and personally delivers them to each widow.

Medical & Healthcare Support: We are able to provide vital prescription medications, medical supplies, and coordinate physician visits for widows struggling with chronic illnesses.

Local Ministry Labor: We provide documented stipends for local Dominican workers and translators who help coordinate weekly visits, deliver food, and provide ongoing companionship to the widows.

Logistical Infrastructure: Fueling and maintaining our ministry transport truck, maintaining proper auto insurance, and covering secure lodging operations to keep our field teams safe.

How We Support Your Church: Mutual Engagement

A partnership with For the Widow is a two-way street. We want to keep your congregation engaged and connected to the direct impact of their giving.

Quarterly Church & Congregational Updates: We provide your pastoral team with monthly newsletter updates, high-quality photos, and talking points to share from the stage or in your bulletin every quarter.

On-Site Representations: When possible, our founders or US leadership team can visit your church to present to your small groups and Sunday School classes or host a mission-focused Q&A with your whole congregation.

Custom Group Mission Trips: Partner churches receive priority scheduling for custom, group-led mission trips where your members can travel to Barahona to physically serve the very widows they support.
