Preparing For Your Mission Trip

Getting Ready For Your Trip

A Few things to Prepare

We are so excited you are joining us for a mission trip to the Dominican Republic. There are a few things to do to prepare for your trip. Please review the information below and let us know if you have any questions. Looking forward to serving with you soon!

E-Ticket:

MOST IMPORTANT: In order to enter and leave the Dominican Republic everyone will need to complete an e-ticket before the flight. Please see the E-Ticket Guide with step by step instructions. Once you finish the e-ticket, please print a copy, fold it, and put it in your passport book. Also save a copy on your phone.

Passport:

You must have a valid passport that doesn’t expire within 6 months of your trip dates.

WhatsApp:

The team will communicate with each other through WhatsApp leading up to and during the trip. Please Download WhatsApp and send a message to your team leader so you can be added to the group.

3-Minute Testimonial:

Prior to the trip we ask all team members to work on your 3-Minute Testimonial. It is important to practice with your team in small groups to help everyone feel more comfortable. Click here for the 3-Minute Testimonial Guide

Evangelism App:

We use the app called Life on Mission for sharing the gospel in the Dominican Republic.

Daily Prayer Guide:

We have developed a 15-Day Prayer Guide for the team to use leading up to the trip. Please begin praying through this guide. It’s not long… just short prayers each day!

Packing List:
  1. Please check your airline’s baggage allowances before packing. Also, the carry-on has to meet certain size requirements for overhead storage. Tying a bright colored ribbon or attaching another eye-catching item makes bags easier to pick out.
  2. Make sure that you put at least one set of clothes and items you REQUIRE daily in your carry-on just in case your luggage does not make it.
  3. Remember that there are size requirements that you cannot exceed for liquid contents in your carryon bags. Please check current TSA regulations. Larger items can go in checked luggage.
  4. Bring snacks in your carry-on. Travel days are long and the airlines don’t supply much. We typically do not stop for lunch but will just snack throughout the day. , and you do not stop for lunch. You can’t take your own drinks on the plane in your possession or carry on because they exceed the size limit. You can put drinks in your checked luggage. For The Widow Ministries will have water for you on the bus.
  5. Sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels are provided.
  6. Beach towel.
  7. Summer clothing is appropriate with the high temperatures and humidity. Please choose modest clothing that is comfortable, loose fitting, and lightweight and washable.
  8. Pack a pair of comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes.
  9. Bring sunscreen and a hat. Long sleeves may be necessary if you are sensitive to the sun or for night trips down the mountain.
  10. Swimwear will be necessary if time permits and you plan on swimming at the beach. Please be modest when deciding on what swimwear to pack. It is recommended to wear some sort of footwear to avoid stepping on sea urchins or the rocks on the beach.
  11. Pack a small roll of tissues and hand sanitizer in your carry on.
  12. Use unscented items if at all possible to help cut down on the bug attractions.
  13. Special Items To Pack:
    • Sunscreen / hat
    • Reusable water bottle
    • Hand wipes and antibacterial gel
